NOTE: As of November 2020, Target has discontinued its Target Subscriptions service. Instead, consider using the Target Drive Up service, Order Pickup service, or Same Day Delivery service.
I’m all about the Amazon subscription services. But, in addition, to those services, I swear by Target Subscriptions too.
Target Subscriptions are perfect for keeping your pantry, medicine cabinet, and supply closet perpetually stocked — all at a great price and with extraordinary convenience. So if you’re a die-hard Target fan or just someone who loves a great, easy, set-it-and-forget-it deal, have a look at the perks of Target Subscriptions!
Target offers subscription services for thousands of its products — foods, personal care items, baby supplies, pet care, household cleaners, beauty products, first aid necessities, and more.
The process is incredibly straightforward. Find an item you want to buy, see if it’s available for subscription, and easily set up your delivery schedule. Done!
Saving Big
Promotions and sales? They’re applied automatically. Promo codes? You can use them on your first purchase . . . though they’ll fall away for subsequent deliveries.
You always get 5% off of Target’s already-low, advertised prices when you subscribe. (And unlike Amazon, there’s no minimum number of subscriptions needed to qualify for that discount.) Plus, you receive free shipping on each item and an extra 5% off the price if you use a Target REDcard for your purchase.
Do you love Target’s gift card promotions? Those offers like “Buy 2 bottles of Pantene and get a $5 Target gift card”? You’re still eligible to enjoy those through Target Subscriptions!
And you can apply those gift cards — or any other Target gift card — to your subscription orders.
Extra Perks
Both Amazon and Target send you notification E-mails before your subscriptions with those companies ship. However, only Target offers guaranteed pricing.Amazon’s prices change every day, so the best you can get with Prime Pantry or Subscribe & Save is good-faith estimate. Target’s notification E-mail, however, gives you prices that are set in stone.

Another great benefit? You’re entitled to free returns on all of your subscription items. Walk it into the store, or get a pre-paid shipping label for easy returns.
Managing Your Subscriptions
Once you set up a subscription, it’s a snap to customize your setup.
You can . . .
- Tweak the number of items delivered,
- Change your delivery date,
- Cancel your delivery or your subscription in its entirety,
- Choose a different size or color,
- Modify your shipping address,
- Revise your payment method,
- Alter your delivery frequency.
While Amazon sets delivery frequency by month, Target gives you increased flexibility in your subscription schedule. You have 8 options for delivery schedule — anywhere from 4 weeks to 26 weeks.
Plus, you can add products to an existing subscription or set up an entirely different delivery schedule for those items.
So why Target?
If you . . .
- Value the predictability of fixed pricing,
- Crave the flexibility of a highly customizable delivery schedule,
- Want to grab subscription savings without subscribing to a ton of items, or
- Just love Target products and deals,
you need to check out Target Subscriptions!
